DIY Earring Holder

Need a new way to arrange your earrings so you can see all of them? I hated how half my earrings were in my jewelry box and I didn't have them all on visual display. This is the solution I came up with. I had a smaller version but my collection has grown too large. Want to know how to make your own? Follow these easy instructions:

What you will need:
  • Picture frame
  • Window Screening
  • Scissors/razor blade
  • Staple gun or glue gun
  • Wall hook
Now to make the earring holder:
  1. Purchase a frame you like. Any will do. I got mine at a second-hand store and spray painted it white to match the furniture in my room.
  2. Cut window screening (I bought mine from Wal-mart) to fit the backside of your frame.
  3. Use the staple gun to staple the screening to the frame. Make sure to pull the screen taught so that there is no snagging. (If you do not have a staple gun, you can use a hot glue gun instead to glue the screen down onto the back of the frame.
  4. Once the screen is all stapled or glued, cut any excess screen from around the edges.
  5. You can hang the frame however you wish. I stapled a string onto the back of my frame and hung it with Command Mounting Hooks onto my wall.
  6. Voila, you have a wonderful new earring holder.
Let me know if you have any questions!

If I needed another...

I just bought a watch so I have no real excuse to get another one. If I did, I would get this one! It's the La Mer Collection watch available online at shopbop.com.

If I Liked Dogs...

I'm not really a dog person. I prefer cats. However, this dog is absolutely adorable. It's called a Pomsky. Its a mix between a Husky and a Pomeranian. So adorable!

Newsprint Nails How-To

So I am completely addicted to pinterest.com and several of my friends also have an addiction to it. Recently. my friend Ruby found a pin called newsprint nails and they showed how to get newsprint words onto your fingernails for a uniquely cool look. This is a picture of my nails that I did a few days ago. Its very simple and goes something like this:

1. Paint your nails a solid neutral color. You can really paint them any color you want. I chose a light pink color since I can't wear crazy colors to work.

2. Cut out squares of newsprint from the newspaper. The size just have to be bigger than your fingernails. I       cut 4 inch squares so I could use each piece several times.

3. Dip your nail in Rubbing Alcohol or Vodka. The first time it was done to my nails was with rubbing alcohol. This time I used Vodka and it seemed to be more effective and the newsprint turned out darker.

4. Once you dip your nail in the rubbing alcohol/vodka, press the newsprint onto your finger nail firmly and hold there for a second (like you do with temporary tattoos).

5. Remove the paper from your nail. Be careful not to smudge because the print will come right off from rubbing.

6. Once you have newsprinted all of your nails, paint over each nail with clear polish to keep the words from rubbing off.

7. Ta-da--You have awesome newsprint nails!

Feathers!

I'm thinking of going to get some feather extensions in my hair. I know I am behind in the trend but I have been waiting until my hair got a little longer. The trend started when my hair was really short. Will document if I do end up getting some.
