Breakouts from Brushes?

My face has been breaking out lately and I have been trying to find the culprit. I wondered: is it my pillowcase? So I made sure it was clean. Nope, that wasn't it. Maybe my blanket that I sleep with close to my face? Nope, not that either. Then it came to me today: My makeup brushes have not been cleaned in...well lets face it--EVER! I know, gross, right?! Time to change that! So, I went to Target and found a cheap brush shampoo--Elf Brush Shampoo for only $3! I'm hoping that was the key to clearing up my breakouts! Have you ever cleaned your makeup brushes?

Fall is Right Around the Corner

As I was walking to my car last night after work, I realized that the leaves were starting to fall. Then I thought, how long has this been happening without my observation?! I used to think I was a summer girl bc I love the sunshine and I love to be warm but as I am getting older, I am realizing how much I also love fall and winter. While I hate the rain and the cold, I do love a lot of things about that time of year as well. I love the scarves and warm sweaters I can bundle myself in. I love sitting by the fire and reading a book. I love drinking tea and eating warm cookies. And of course, I LOVE Christmas time! Here are a few things I've found that make me excited about fall:

DIY Earring Holder

Need a new way to arrange your earrings so you can see all of them? I hated how half my earrings were in my jewelry box and I didn't have them all on visual display. This is the solution I came up with. I had a smaller version but my collection has grown too large. Want to know how to make your own? Follow these easy instructions:

What you will need:
  • Picture frame
  • Window Screening
  • Scissors/razor blade
  • Staple gun or glue gun
  • Wall hook
Now to make the earring holder:
  1. Purchase a frame you like. Any will do. I got mine at a second-hand store and spray painted it white to match the furniture in my room.
  2. Cut window screening (I bought mine from Wal-mart) to fit the backside of your frame.
  3. Use the staple gun to staple the screening to the frame. Make sure to pull the screen taught so that there is no snagging. (If you do not have a staple gun, you can use a hot glue gun instead to glue the screen down onto the back of the frame.
  4. Once the screen is all stapled or glued, cut any excess screen from around the edges.
  5. You can hang the frame however you wish. I stapled a string onto the back of my frame and hung it with Command Mounting Hooks onto my wall.
  6. Voila, you have a wonderful new earring holder.
Let me know if you have any questions!

If I needed another...

I just bought a watch so I have no real excuse to get another one. If I did, I would get this one! It's the La Mer Collection watch available online at shopbop.com.
